Graphic card HELP

Aug 10, 2005 12:27PM PDT

I have an emachine t6522, and it comes with a pci express slot. i would like to put in the 6600gt but the power supply calls for a minimum of 350w and my emachine only has 300w. i am wondering if putting one in would really drag my system, or if it would be fine. i dont really want to upgrade my power supply right now so if its not possibel for the 6600gt what graphic cards would be the next best one that will be in the 300w power supply range.
thanx for you help,

I had the same problem. I have a Dell 8250 and the power supply is 300 watts too. I went ahead and connected the same video card the 6600gt to it and works fine. I have it setup like this for like 8 months now.

I bought the 6600GT video card from newegg. The only difference is that mine is agp and yours is pci express. I am also looking into buying an emachine T6522 or the HP a1130n which are around the same price. I dont know much about AMD so I aint sure yet. The one I have my eyes set on is the HP M7170N which has the new Pentium D 830 and with PC2-4200.

i remember someone who had the a1030n and installed x800xl

without psu upgrade so 6600gt should work fine for a while but u should get a better power supply as it will eventually not be able to ahndle the load.

Well over the last 10 years I've have or had 12 AMD based PCs and NEVER have had a Processor problem...
And I've had or have 5 Intel based PC with no processor problems.
As long as the cooling fan in working any proecssor will out live you.
At this point in time the AMD is the perfomance champ. John
