grandpaw7 What is your issue

Every now and then I see a poster who seems to have a lot of questions. When I see this I wonder if there is a big problem that needs to be addressed. I didn't read all your posts, but I was wondering, is you have a big problem with your comuputer?

I am no expert, hardly, and I have asked a ton of questions over the years.

I see gradpaw7 dealing with not only his machine, but the family's machines.

Much like stepping into a new land, I think he's discovered many things and this is the usual fallout. Also the last few years of PESTS that plague PCs have not helped.

Its got to be hurting the PC industry.

Aren't you aware of CNET forum's motto: you got questions, we got answers. Or maybe it's some investment outfit that uses the motto. Anyhow, CNET's free and I try I try to squeeze all I can out of freebies. Of course, I could ask my daughter these questions. But since she doesn't know anything about computers, it seems to make more sense to ask CNET.

Don't get me wrong, I love questions, I ask many

I was trying to put all the pieces of the puzzle together. You seem to have a lot of different issues you are asking about and I was wondering if they all might be related. Rather than try and piece the puzzle together, I was hoping you can tell us if there is a major problem here. When I see someone asking many different questions, I often wonder whether they have a spyware issue, or maybe in need of a reformat.

Please don't misinterpret my interest, I am very interested in learning and seeing if we could help you get the situation under control. I feel bad when I see numerous posts, as I empathize with the sometimes 'helpless or lost feeling'. I am sorry if the post appeared different than my explanation, but if you re-read it after reading this one, you will see I am very willing to help you get to the bottom of things!

My apologies to you, L:arryD

I wasn't sure what you meant, and, shame on me, I answered something you didn't post. I do have a major problem, though; it's a bad memory deficit that keeps me from carrying what I hopefully learn into the future. And my cognitive driver needs an upgrade. Otherwise, I just ask questions as they pop up in what I am doing.

No biggie,

most of us learn that computers need a lot of fixing to get things right. I went through it, as did most of us, at one time or another.

I can attest to two methods that worked, one was to reformat, and start from scratch. Drastic, yes, but effective. The other was to use all the spyware tools, to scan and eradicate, once clean, I use a number of 'preventatives' including spyware blaster and a hosts file.

Knock on wood...things have been quite smooth for a few years now.

We are all here to help!

Hi Grandpaw,

Yeah, as LarryD explained, he just kinda thought you had a big overall problem that needed possibly a format to start over.

LarryD was not being critical IMO, why even when he first started posting in these different forums, he asked a lot of questions and still does, also bringing up issues, suggestions, and helping people.

You left out one word, however.

should be
