If the main PSU drops too low on the +12V rail the GPU VRM can work harder and blow out. But I doubt this is the cause since this GPU is quite old.
Hello, i was playing Black desert then pc suddenly shut down and didnt want to boot again, after few attempts it boot but one VRM of the GPU caught on fire, now its totally RIP, it was an old AMD 7950, my question is: could be caused by the PSU?
I have the PC now with the same PSU working with the integrated intel gpu without problems, the PSU its not the best brand but it has been running for 5 years without any problem, its an Aercool Strike-x 800w modular, VRM temps were fine, i always check it with Rivatuner OSD.
My concern its if the PSU its broken because i only have 300$ and its not enough for a new GPU+PSU, also i wont waste money on a new PSU if this one is working ok (even if its not the best) what do you think boys? thanks
