Question

GPU fan replacement

Mar 26, 2016 4:56PM PDT

The bearing on my gpu fan is shot. Makes a horrible noise when I run it. I would prefer not to run it with no fan. It's a Gigabyte GeForce 640 GT. I don't know what fan would be compatible with it and I also don't know how to remove the cable from the connector(feels like it's stuck). Thanks.

How? Will it screw in where the current one is?

Well,

You would leave the original fan off and if there's a PCI slot open next to the GPU , you would plug this fan into that slot, there's a screw on top of the bracket to secure it.

As you and I didn't find replacement fans, my next thought is what else can be done.

The fan might have a make and model number on it.
If so plug it into google and see if anything pops up.

The connector might be soldiered on....look close.
