Resolved Question

Got a wifi dongle for my LG 47lw650t but can't find Netflix

Aug 10, 2014 2:45AM PDT

Hiya, I've had my 47lw650t for about 2 years or more but only got a wifi dongle for it now mainly for Netflix but for the life of me I cannot find the app for Netflix, I've tried searching or it and for 'Netcast' like it says on the Netflix website and I cannot find it anywhere at all and it's getting incredibly frustrating because I find the layout for the smart TV premium service incredibly tedious, can anyone help?
I've done software updates but every time I turn the TV off & on and go into the premium/home smart options it says a new update was found and installed but it doesn't say anything is being installed it also says in setup there are no more updates... I'm really stuck Sad

Clarification Request
Where is Netflix mentioned?
Aug 10, 2014 2:49AM PDT
http://www.lg.com/uk/tvs/lg-47LW650T-3d-tv and I can't find a Netflix note.

Netflix is the one that makes that app so we can't ask the maker for when it will come out (they have to wait for Netflix) so ask Netflix directly.

Also, a Roku 2 or 3 costs as much as those dongles so consider returning the dongle for a Roku.

I guess i should give up...

I don't know what you mean by a Netflix note

I found this website https://help.netflix.com/en/node/8547 but i do not see any of those options.

My TV specs in the link you provided say 'Netcast - Yes' but on the Netcast website it doesn't list my TV in the compatible models, plus i cannot see Netcast or any of the option on the Netflix website anyway.

My dongle cost me £20... the Roku costs £50.

I guess i should just give up and go back to using my PS3 & Xbox? I was hoping the Smart TV functions would be good but there isn't even an app for 4oD as well...

My Roku 4200x-b cost was 76USD
Aug 11, 2014 12:09AM PDT

That was with tax and shipping. So at today's exchange rates, about 84USD so a fair deal.

One of the areas folk discover is that unlike your PC, PS3 & Xbox, it's rare to see more apps arrive beyond what it came with. Developing an app is harder and as the model changes every few months and then you would have to test on that exact model, you can see why it pretty much is locked in time when it came out.

These Smart TV makers are loathe to add even more license and royalty fees to the set so we'll see if they will foray into a standard OS and more.

"Unfortunately it is not possible to download the Netflix application on to this TV. I would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused Stephanie. The reason for this is that the TV was released in 2011, wheras the Netflix application was released in 2012. Due to technical limitations, this does mean that Netflix is only available on 2012 or newer models. Im sorry for any confusion regarding this, however I do have a few suggestions which you could look into. Although the TV does not have the inbuilt facility to run Netflix, there are 3rd party devices which do support this that could be connected to the TV. More recently released devices such as roku boxes or the google chromecast do have online functionality, and would likely be capable of running Netflix. This may be something worth looking into. You can also connect a PC or laptop directly to the TV through HDMI, and run Netflix through the the computer but displaying it to your TV. "

Oh well Sad
