Google, Yahoo! and MSN search results hijacked

Jun 13, 2005 10:15AM PDT

For the last couple of months, ALL of the searches I do in IE on Google, Yahoo! end up with about the first 10 results being junk. The real results are below the garbage ones. MSN searches seem to crash the browser. The Google toolbar also has junk results, but Yahoo! toolbar is OK (which is what I am using). Also the search explorer bar, using Google works fine.

Now I can use other search engines, or one of these other methods, but I would love to fix this problem. I have run Spybot, Microsoft AntiSpyware, Ad-Aware and Spy Sweeper to no avail. Anybody ever seen this before or figured out how to resolve it?

Any help with this?

Has anybody else seen this behavior? Short of starting over, I'm really at a loss at how to fix this problem.

Same thing happening to me - unknown cause

I am also seeing my top few search results being hijacked. The "top spots" blink in a few moments after google draws the true search results. All of a sudden there's a new #1 and #2 search result.

I have notified google and they gave me some suggestions for spy/adware detection software, but nothing was found. I know it's there because any query I do on this machine and a different machine do not produce the same results. This machine always has these phantom search results.
