Google Web Search

Oct 8, 2008 1:18PM PDT

I am new to Vista. I went to Google web search (not toolbar)and typed an entry. I found what I wanted, researched, etc. After closing web page and reopening Google about 15 minutes later for another search, my previous entry was still in the search box. How do I get this not to occur so that whenever I reopen Google at a later time/date, the box will be empty? I never experienced this with XP

Google Web Search

Thanks. I installed the program but no luck. Let me clarify that I am not trying to clear the history (yet), I just don't understand why a previous entry is still showing up. One of the first entries that I typed in the Google Web site was "Vista toolbar". Now, every time that I open Google, "Vista toolbar" is already in the search box. Any other suggestions?

Form data
Oct 8, 2008 2:47PM PDT

IE is most likely saving your "form data" this is a feature meant to cut down on the time it takes to fill out repetetive forms. Since I am running the beta of IE 8 I cant walk through the steps to disable saving form data right at this moment, when I get to a box with ie7 on it i will post the correct steps to do so.

Thanks everyone. I went out of town for 4 days and when I returned, my problem has disappeared. I have no clue, but thanks to all. If it rears its ugly head again, I'll let you know. Again, thank you.

Short answer
Oct 8, 2008 2:12PM PDT

Short answer is you turn off Auto Complete in Internet Explorer. Long answer is, you don't use Internet Explorer, or anything based on it, because of it's numerous security issues. Each browser will have its own method for getting rid of those. Mozilla Firefox, for example, you can simply hit the Delete key to delete the highlighted entry. Or you can use a GUI option to clear it at any point of your choosing. Other browsers will have their own ways of doing this.
