Google play store update errors

Oct 25, 2014 6:30PM PDT

I keep having errors while trying to update Google play services. Example: Can't sign in to hangouts without updating my play store version, can't update Google play services because of the package file invalid error. The current version on my note 3 (SM-N900) is 3.5.19. I'm on the brink of removing play store and reinstalling it again though I'm not quite sure whether that's a good idea?

And just like Windows I'm finding that updates can have errors. That is, a mail app had me clear its cache and re-enter login information. This system is not without bugs so what to write except it's like Windows.
