Question

Google Play app updates

Mar 10, 2016 11:54AM PST

I am in need of a quick answer. I am in need of someone who understands Google Play a bit, and how updating an app works. So, an app updated to a current location, but the user states that they do not use that app and it is linked to their Google from years ago, however that app shows a current location and the user just recently moved. It doesn't seem feasible that apps would get updated especially if they are "not installed" on the phone?

Well that was unclear.

Sorry but while I do write apps, I can't guess what prompted this question. I do know that some owners are upset at the app update frequency.

Here I'll restrict myself to just one tablet I keep on my desk. It seems that apps update daily. It's amusing to say the least given the few apps I installed. Google updates very often and even apps I didn't install get installed and updated. Google for example pushed out Photos and it was not stock on the Nexus 7.

So I see that too. Now if you were to ask me why, I'd send you to Google.

That didn't take long.

As I wrote the prior reply I was thinking "Hmm, no updates on my Nexus 7, how odd."

And sure enough from the time I posted to now, 3 apps got updates, 2 of which were Google's own and one app I installed.

I've been thinking that someday folk will start complaining about the rather frequent updates. It's a lot more than what I see on Windows today from Microsoft.
