Google Marks every page as Harmful?

Jan 30, 2009 10:59PM PST

I know this is a bit off topic but it is news, I guess.
I typed in CNET.com this morning into Google and was Greeted by a big fat "This site may harm your computer", I thought that can't be right, so I typed in Youtube just to check, and guess what I got the same error. I use Firefox, but the same thing happened in Chrome(Googles own browser)IE and Opera. Do any of you think it might be a rouge employee or they got hacked? Just thought that might be interesting. (BTW: I got here through Yahoo because of the error I explained).

google site is harmful, too

I also saw every site tagged harmful. I tried searching for Google itself and Google's own site came up as harmful using Chrome.

The Malware warning is breaking Google.

It's a huge (albeit most likely temporary) snafu for Google!

Use YAHOO SEARCH
Jan 30, 2009 11:29PM PST

This started today... using Google Search, ALL the hits have the following message... "THIS SITE MAY HARM YOUR COMPUTER"

I can search using YAHOO SEARCH and do not get the warning message.

But Why would you use Yahoo, wasn't there some study that said it had the highest rating for giving Malware results? Please Correct me if I'm wrong.

Same here!
Jan 31, 2009 2:55AM PST

I did actually search for "crash barrier" (because for Physics school work, I need to find out how exactly they work on the roads), and even the wikipedia article was blocked, as was all of the results, but after the 3rd refresh, in Safari at least, it followed the link... What's going on at google?

I'm sorry, I can't help, How bout your try using a different search engine, besides Yahoo, they'll reset your Home Page. Its fine for me, Maybe clear your cache, cookies etc. and reboot. That's what I did and it works fine.

All anyone had to do was
Jan 31, 2009 6:50AM PST

take a search result and lop off the Google Interstitial header that was coming up to go directly to the site. A pain , yes. But it only lasted a half hour or so.

Huge headline still on Drudge as I write this at 5:50 pm Eastern time.

"GOOGLE GOES MAD!"
