I think it was 99 bucks. I see there are many open pleas on the web with no really great answer but my fix was to get a GPS.

I downloaded Route4me - several problems

From the Google Play Store, there's no indication of costs involved, so I installed it. Then you have to jump through registration hoops. Then I can't figure out how to use the thing - it makes zero sense to me. Then you discover they want $40 per year for you to use it. YUCK! Cry After that I'm too disenchanted to try the Michelin one. I'll just stick to my Tomtom. Confused

Even at 40 a year could be a great deal?

Let's say your route planner saves a tank of gas in a year. We win!

Why wouldn't I be better off with my Tomtom?

And do you know how to use Route4me? If so, I'd love to hear an explanation. You said you opted for a real GPS yourself; why didn't you use Route4me? I paid $60 for my Tomtom and have been using it for several years, so why pay $40 a year? No comprendo amigo. Confused

Tipping my hand.

Over the years I was a member on a team with GPS vehicle tracking. Since it was a fleet of vehicles cost was always first, second, third and more on the list. Even when we showed that one dollar a month for the improvement saved 2 or more times that in fuel, sometimes they would not believe and take the lower cost.

Because of what I know about this area I can write a bit. HOWEVER I don't know every app out there. Only the ones we made and a few competitors.

Answer
I have a Google Nexus 7 android tablet w/GPS

I looked in the Google Play Store and saw that there're many GPS apps there. However I have no idea which one(s) might be as good as my TomTom GPS which gives me turn by turn maps with voice if I want it. I have tried the Google Maps app, but all it does is give you a map and tell the distance from where you are to some address you type in. If anyone knows of a good android GPS app, I'd be interested to hear about it. In the meantime I'll use my Tomtom to navigate with.

I'm using ridewithgps(dot)com. It works pretty well and the people that run it are open to suggestions.
