Question

Google Icon shows as white file on taskbar

Jan 5, 2016 2:53AM PST

I just cannot get the google coloured circle icon back. Uninstalled/ reinstalled google twice. deleted IconCach.db twice. Reset Settings twice, and a few other tricks.
Is this a Windows or a Google problem?
Please can someone help me?

Google what (Chrome, Maps, Earth, Plus, Cars, Glass, ...)?. I see no google icon on my taskbar at all, so it must be something I haven't installed.

Windows Explorer

Open Windows Explorer, go to %userprofile%\AppData\Local, delete IconCache.db.

Open Task Manager, go to Processes tab, highlight explorer.exe, and click End Process. Your desktop will "disappear."

Still in Task Manger, select File > New Task (Run...), type explorer.exe, and click OK. Your desktop should reappear, with the previously missing icons.

icon wrong
Jan 5, 2016 3:24AM PST

(1) opened Windows Explorer, went to %userprofile%\AppData\Local = no 'IconCache.db' to be found
(2) In Task manager, no explorer.exe to be found.
So - (3) does not apply ?
Any useful suggestions?

Google Icon Shows as White File on Taskbar

The following Directory in Explorer:

C:\Users\(Username)AppData\Local

You should see a file called IconCache.db inside that folder Go ahead and right-click on it and choose Delete

Go ahead and restart the computer and see if that fixes your problem.
