Resolved Question

Google doesnt show search results on browsers

Jan 9, 2014 10:43AM PST

Hi im having some problems for the last 2 days. None of my 3 browsers IE/Firefox(main) or Chrome show any results when doing searches at google.com.

the only way i can manage to see results in all 3 browsers is if i type something into the search bar and select "pictures" and after that switch back to "internet tab" again while the word i searched on earlier is still there, then it will actually show the results of the search. This is the only way i can manage to get it to work.

On a regular search i will just get a blank google page with a search result text like for example : approx. 84.800.000 results (0,22 seconds) and thats pretty much it. Sometimes it shows maybe a single result thats greyed out and i cant click on it. Once in a while the search seems to work mostly when just launching the browser and typing the first search, after that its pretty much broken again.

I hope someone can help i have no idea what to do, i disabled my windows firewall in both private and public settings and turned my Bullguard antivirus off completely and nothing worked

I had this problem, here's my answer...
Jan 10, 2014 3:33AM PST

I have this problem but i have three different totally computers and all of them had this problem on every single browser so it's unlikely to be a virus or malware. We do have something in common they all use bullguard and so do you i see.

My answer is to Turn off Google Instant results, so go to google click on the gear to get into the options, go to search settings and find google instant predictions. Click the option to never show instant results, go to the bottom of the page and save. Go back to google and it works as normal for me. Something is wrong with google instant, it may have something to do with bullguard but i'm no expert...

Thank you for the help to you both. Berty8's solution fixed the problem though!! i guess you were right, hopefully i dont have malware/virus on because i did do as @wpgwpg posted by scanning in safe mode and ran malwarebyte software twice and it didnt catch anything.

Thank you it works normal in all 3 browsers again

Answer
Don't run without antivirus & firewall!!

It sounds like you could have a virus or other malware. Get your antivirus program up to date and boot into Safe Mode. Note that some viruses can hide themselves from your antivirus program in normal mode, so you really need to scan in Safe Mode. To get into Safe Mode when you first power up, hit F8 about once a second until you get the menu and select Safe Mode. Then run a full system scan.

If that fixes it, fine. If not, use System Restore to go back to a date prior to the beginning of the problem. To run System Restore, click Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> System Restore. Click the box that says Show more restore points.
-
You can check for corrupted system files. Open an administrator command prompt and run SFC if the above doesn't help. Click START, then type CMD in the search box, right-click CMD.EXE and click Run as administrator. Then from the command prompt type sfc /scannow.
-
Finally if all else fails, you can check the rather cryptic system event log. To do that click Start -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Event Viewer. Once in Event Viewer click on the system log and scroll through the entries looking for those flagged "error" to see if you can find hints as to where the problem could be.
`
When you get your system back in good working order, I urge you to back your system up to an external hard drive and make regular periodic updates to it.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

Slow connection
Jan 16, 2014 12:35AM PST

I've had this problem in the past from time to time when my internet connection was way to slow for the search results to load properly. Not even the image search works. I read the first answer. That's a pretty much good solution. I had the problem again a few hours ago, and I tried doing that. It worked. So, I guess the root cause might be a slow connection.
