Dr. Franklin was the brilliant XRay diffusion photographer of the DNA molecule, who just barely failed to recognize all the detail of what she had seen, and from whose work Watson and Crick were able to prove their model of the structure of DNA was correct.
Sadly, she died of cancer a very few years later, and thus was no longer eligible for the Nobel Prize. It is not awarded post-humously.
