Google "Back Button" Problem

Sep 7, 2011 1:53PM PDT

<span id="INSERTION_MARKER">Hi,

Has anyone else been having issues with Google's back button?

Here's what's been happening:

1. I'm on a web page, say for example Newbies Forum.
2. I type in a query in Google.
3. Google's search page comes up.
4. I click on my desired link and it takes me there.
5. But when I click on the "back button" it takes me back to the previous web page (Newbies Forum), not the Google search page!

Any ideas as to what is causing this and how to rectify it?

Thanks in advance.

It's a strange one

I've just tried the same as you. In the Newbies forum, type ISS in the address bar and a Google listing page displays.

Click the first link, (NASA), and the NASA web page opens.

Click the back button, and I am taken back to the Google search listing.

So it works for me.

A workaround. Don't click the link, but right click and select New Tab. At least that way you still have the original tab open.

Which Browser?
Sep 8, 2011 12:30AM PDT

Assuming the problem is occurring in Internet Explorer, which version of IE are you using? Which operating system?Tried updating to the newest if you don't have it already?

It sounds like you're using the Google toolbar, NOT the Google webpage. Is that correct? If so, recognize that toolbars tend to do weird things anyway.. It may have something to do with their popup blocking ability.

Have you tried using a different browser and does the same thing happen?.. To download and run the free Firefox browser, click on the link below, to download, then install Firefox.. See if the same thing happens.

Hope this helps.

I just assumed they were using Google Chrome. But re-reading the top post I see no specific mention of Chrome.

Well spotted.
