Question

Good Serial RS232 to USB adapter.

Jul 24, 2012 4:36AM PDT

I am brand new to the Mac and I need to adapt an existing RS232 Serial cable to USB for my Mac. I see some pretty expensive ones and some really cheap ones and some that will not work on a Mac. Can someone recommend, from experience, an adapter that works well and is reasonably priced? Thanks.

Sorry but since they work, I don't have to.

Besides, I can't find what criteria you have for good or bad.

Clarification of what I am looking for in a RS232-USB adapt.
Jul 24, 2012 10:38AM PDT

Bob,

I want to control a radio via the serial cable so it needs to be the real thing not some cheap imatation. My main criteria is that someone has used it with good results.

I looked up serialio.com and they have a couple of different ones. Which one do you use and on which version of OSX? Thanks for your help.

Sadly I think I can't help you.

While the basic models at serialio work just fine for me it appears you need something far more. That is something beyond the RS232 this provides. I'm going to wish you the best of luck and again a nod to the adapter at serialio.com
