Question

Good DVD Ripper Suggestions Needed

Jan 15, 2012 4:24AM PST

Hello,

I am looking for a good, reliable DVD ripper. I like to use Handbrake...up until today that is. I know HB wishes to not classify their software as a ripper and I understand and respect that. I would take my DVDs and rip them to WMV files I could convert to MP4s (or straight to MP4s) I could watch on my iPhone. Today I popped in a DVD and I would get a prompt in the lower left-hand corner telling me ENCODING FINISHED\ almost immediately. So, for some reason, the program is either not working, or I am doing something wrong. I like HB, at least when it was working because it was easy to use and it was free, but I am not unwilling to pay for a solid piece of software that is EASY TO USE and is versatile. Can anyone suggest something? Thanks.

Answer
Be sure the DVD is not protected.

I thought HB did that on protected content. And we can't discuss getting around that here. (see forum policies)

Look on the DVD to see if they offer a Digital Copy option.
