Good Digital Recorder for College Students?

Dec 30, 2007 8:16AM PST

What's a good digital recorder for college Students? The price doesn't really matter (preferably not over 300-400 dollars). All that matters to me is the convenience and ease of recording, storing/organizing, transfering (to ipods, itouch, PC), and playing back (with editing and speed modifications).

So far the digital recorders that I've found record in WMA (Windows Media Audo) files and not MP3. Can these recordings be easily converted into MP3 files? I've been browsing through Olypmus Voice Recorders: http://olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/cpg_voicerecorders.asp

Does anyone have any suggestions as to which one I should get? I'm not familiar with gadgets, espeicially voice recorders, Mp3 players, and whatnot so I'm unsure of which one would suit a College student like me best. Thanks.
