the link you showed me showed a used/refurbished nano for 69 dollars, and there's probably shipping charges too.

There are other places.

It's not a good deal. I define a good deal as much lower than I can find. It's a big world and I only scratched the surface. Besides, geeks.com has too many 4 and 8GB other MP3 players for under 60.

How long has he had it?

And how many charge cycles has it gone through? While it seems like a good deal, the battery in it has a finite life. If you have to replace the battery within a year then maybe not so good of a deal unlesss you're willing to do it youself. A refurb should have a new battery, but you should check with the seller.

i dont know

i dont know how long he's had it, but the third gen nano came out in September 2007, so even if he got it at launch the battery would still be fairly fresh.
