Good cases for ultra compact cameras

Mar 20, 2005 6:51AM PST

Can anyone recomend a non-leather case that will fit reasonably tightly around the Ex-Z50 camera? Waterproof would be a big plus, as would a closable pocket for a spare battery. I need a tight case because where I travel robbery is a frequent occurance and I need my camera to not stick out in my pocket and be any more obvious than necessary*.

The camera's dimensions are 87 by 57 by 22.4 millimeters, or 3.48 x 2.28 x 0.9 inches.

*No I'm not crazy, a tiny camera and baggy pants saved my Ex-M2 during a mugging in Ecuador this past Fall.

Cases for ultra small cameras.

I have a Canon S230 that I carry in a small cell phone holster. And there is room for a spare battery.

When people see it, they think cell phone - not camera.

Of course, it is not waterproof.

Anyone else got any ideas????

Lowepro

My Minolta Dimage X20 is about the same size and I carry it in a padded, zippered Lowepro case into which it fits perfectly; no room for batteries however, just spare memory card and sunshield...cost about $10 and has no model number

I suppose you could put the camera in a condom for waterproofing but you might attract attention when you used it.

Ha!

I don't mind a little attention, but some of the places I travel people have such strange ideas about condoms, I don't want to confuse anyone further.

I used a little Samsonite case for my Ex-M2, but I sold it and also it wasn't waterproof and the extra pocket has no zipper or fastener.

Good Cases for Compacts

Hello, I do not use a hard leather case at all with my Canon S-400. I use a very soft fabric bag with a draw string that I purchased so that when I put the soft bag with my camera into my front pocket of my jeans, no one can see any bulge in my jeans pocket suggesting that I have a camera.

Put the spare battery in the coin/watch pocket of your jeans. It will fit.
If you want it water-repellant, try a zip-lock bag on both.
