Gonna take some adjusting......

Apr 30, 2007 5:37AM PDT

The ?Lady of the House? decided it was time to repaint the Kitchen; Dining Room, and a couple of Hallways.

Something I didn?t fully understand. It had only been 10 or 12 years since the last time.

I don?t even like the smell of paint, let alone smearing it all over things, myself mostly. So she hired a professional painter, you know, the guy that can paint ceilings, walls, and cut in edges perfectly, all without leaving streaks or getting a single spot of paint on himself or where it doesn?t belong.

Along with burning a wood fireplace all winter; smokers with their ?nasty? habit; as well as being in the dusty southwest, I thought the ?white? walls and popcorn ceilings had aged gracefully to an a la natural ?muted earth tone?

But, ..?She? didn?t like the contrast with the Family/Living Room, which this painter had refreshed a couple of months ago.

Now, gotta wear sun shades inside.

Yep, gonna take some adjusting.

Quoting Rumpole here. (Ever watch the series on PBS's "Mystery"?)

I admire your wife for hiring professional painters!

But I have to wonder about your self-described painting skills.

During my married life I never learned to grate slaw without tearing up my knuckles, nor peel tomatoes (we liked them peeled) without ending up with tomato paste, nor peel potatoes without ending up with one french fry. So my husband always did those chores.

Sometimes it just pays to not do some things well. Happy

everything is after a paint job. I have always admired my wife for her choice of colors, except for this last time. I wanted my usual mix of colors and she wanted every room the same color. Champagne Ivory or egg shell. Forgot which. She said thats the new look, Condo style. She said I'm color blind and the last time I picked the colors, which was years and years ago, it looked like the rainbow rooms. Anyhow I'm so use to the color now, if I do them over again, which is unlikely, I would still keep them all one color. For the interior I use Sears Best. (Satin or Semi-Satin. Forgot that too) Holds up real well. Outside, I use Sherman-Williams Latex Flat. Top Shelf. Been almost 12 years now and everything still looks good, but should really be done over this year. So, I guess old George is going to have to shake the pockets a little before long and bring in the Pro's Sad
