Going from Super 8mm movies to digital

Jan 16, 2005 5:06AM PST

I know there are commerical services out there but if one had a Super 8 projector projecting a concentrated image onto, say a white 3X5" card with a digital camera right next to it in record mode, would it work? What if the projector had a varable speed knob on it -- would that eliminate the sync problems? I have hundreds of feet of 8mm from Southeast Asia.

Yes, although I don't know about the 3x5 card. Can your

projector focus on something that close to the lense? Variable speed is required to get the video in synch.

Super 8 to video

I'm not sure how close it will focus but if not a card that small maybe an 8 by 10" piece of white paper then? Or maybe a 11 by 17. I would think smaller and closer to the video camera would be a better picture... maybe not?
