GoBack Reinstall

Nov 20, 2003 11:04AM PST

Am getting this error when I try to reinstall GoBack on my system with 98se.
"Error F:\dev\GoBack\apps\Setup\PartitionEtc.cpp line xxx, source (null)

GoBack 3.x Deluxe and Personal

Found this info below on a help site. How do I check a hidden partition?

"This error comes up when there is a hidden partition located on the drive, usually at the beginning of the drive. GoBack will not install when there is a hidden partition at the beginning of the drive. You will need to either remove the hidden partition, or move it to the end of the drive before GoBack will install on your system."

Thanks Papat

I'm afraid that if fdisk can't help you to get rid of this hidden partition (if that's the problem) while saving the contents of the other partitions, you'll need a program like Partition Magic.
Start with fdisk /status to show the contents of your hard disk. It should show size and location of all partitions.

Also please tell why you want to reinstall the program. Did you properly uninstall it? What has changed on the computer after the first install?

I don't know Goback (only by name). Is it possible that that program creates the hidden partition to save its info? Then an uninstall, if supported, should undo that maybe. Or the help file, or the makers web site, should offer some support.

I do hope other people do have more to offer.

FDISK /STATUS report please?

FDISK has a report that you can run in a DOS window. Open that DOS command window and type...

FDISK /STATUS and post the results here.

If the installer of the OS did as you suspect, I have to ask if you are willing to do an OS reinstall or do you have all that you need to do so?
