402 has usb on the go
400 has CF slot

402 has higher resolution playback, but just means there may be less to encode

that's all i could think of

if you dont need USB OTG, then the 400 is a better choice.

gmini 402 vs gmini 400

Why would a 400 be better than a 402, as long as you don't need usb otg? I'm considering which one to buy and am having the same dilema as the first questioner. Does one sound or record better? Is one superior over another as an external HD? And interestingly, the 402 (newer) cost less than the 400, still. Why is that?

Thank you

I am also in the market to buy a portable mp3 player and I've come down to the archos gmini 400. But then i found out there was a 402 model. Can someone really straighten out the major differences? From what I've heard, which may not be true, the 402 has a removable battery, and video recording capability..but im not sure...

GMini 400 vs Gmini 402

The 402 and 400 both do not have removable batteries, that is unless you upon up the player (many have to put an increased capacity battery to get lengthier play back time, which apparently is pretty easy to do), there are really only a couple of differences.

1) USB-OTG (a biggy for some people, not for others who prefered the CF-Card Slot) which may be the reason for some people charging more for the 400 than the 402 a simple supply and demand concept.

2) The video playback resolution has been slightly improved not a revolution rather an evolution for the player as some have put it

3) Windows Play-for-sure and all that fancy stuff compatible.

Note that because of increased resolution video playback for the 402 has actually dropped 4 hours over the previous 5 hours for the 400.

also the Gmini 402cc is soon to be released with a 1.2 camera and a VGA quality camcorder- search gooogle for samples taken from a demo in berlin
