I read a prety much verbatim post in the Google forum. Anyway, you're not alone, because someone posted in the Motorola forum with the same issue, and others chimed in as well:

One guy said that after a factory reset, all was ok until he did a sync with Google Gmail. After that, he said all previously installed apps were reinstalled, so he was going to uninstall them until he found which one wasn't playing nice with Google.
Let me say I am probably the only one with this problem. At the moment. But this involves us and our devices and google's control over them. So here is what I left on google's forum:
My gmail acccount has corrupted basic features on my phone. Verizon will not help. They say I have to contact google. There is no phone #. There is no email to contact support????
I use my phone as my alarm clock, and this is where the problem lies.
My phone goes black and the screen flickers when placed in the dock. The hard buttons lights go on and off repeatedly. This is what happens when the phone is placed in the dock sold by verizon (Which they also said they would not support over the phone)
We bought 2 droids, 2 docks. My phone does not work in either dock. The other phone works in both.
I took it to the verizon store. They gave me all kind of hassle and said my best bet was to goto Bestbuy where I got it. Bestbuy is the best out of this story. They replaced my phone.
Imagine my surprise when I placed this NEW phone in the dock. Still broken. In both docks. Not even my old SD card in it. How is this possible????
Verizon says that I should take it in. probably that by coincidence both dock connectors were busted.. uh huh. I was elevated to tech supported. They have no idea. Take it in.
Well since I designed the droid and incorporated it into the Verizon network (sarcasm) I made the basic connection that the only information that is being transferred is my gmail account. It has all my information and 200 odd contacts. Well, tech support didn't know if that could be the problem...maybe...
Well I made a dummy gmail account, hard reset the phone with this gmail. and guess what. my phone works in the dock.
I need all my contacts. my calendar. I REFUSE to make a new gmail account just to get my phone to work. If my gmail account can screw up something so fundamental as plugging into a dock, what else can it screw up? And no matter how many phones I switch to I am broken phone user??
I have only had this few for a couple of weeks. EVERY TIME I HAVE A CORRUPTION PROBLEM I HAVE TO GET A NEW ACCOUNT?
Okay and now the rub. When I told verizon this, the person didn't even elevate me to upper tech support. This is a google problem. You have to contact them. How I ask? you can email them she said. No phone??? And now that I am here I don?t even see a email. Just a forum.
I PAID $400 DOLLARS FOR THESE PHONES AND $200 A MONTH, I WANT PRIORITY EMAIL OR PHONE #.
So what do I want after all this raving? I want my gmail account wiped clean of Droid data, and I want to continue to use my contacts and calendar
Anybody have ANY ideas?
We need to be concerned that google is getting into our physical devices that we depend on. And we have no way to easily contact them when something goes wrong.
