Giving programs I trust authority to run

Jul 21, 2010 10:59AM PDT

Is there a way to make the User Account Control give access to ONLY programs I trust without hitting Yes every time? And if so, is it safe to? Thanks!

No and No

There's no whitelisting method for UAC, and even if there were, it wouldn't be safe to use it. What if some malicious program impersonates that program, or modifies it in some way? Heck, plenty of people would whitelist Internet Explorer, and that would pretty much render UAC's one useful function completely useless.
