...it was my ISP. Today, they updated their e-mail software and the ghost went away.
Every time I hit the send/receive button, my Outlook program tries to send a letter and then displays error message 0x800CCC0D.
There are no letters in the Outgoing file, so I don't know where it's getting the idea there is a letter to send. I never have a problem sending or receiving real mail, but this annoying ghost letter keeps showing up. I have even purged all the files in Outlook Express, thinking it might in some way be contributing to the problem.
I'm using the 2003 version of Office, including Outlook. The computer is a nearly new Gateway running Windows XP with all updates loaded.
