getting the ipod to work with firewire

Hi I recently purchased a 5G video ipod and tried to use it on my windows xp machine using a firewire cable that came with my older 3G ipod. Windows XP did not recognise the ipod and suggested that I plug it in using a usb cable. Does any one know of a fix or patch I can use to get windows to recognise my ipod when plugged in using firewire cables?

How did you do that?

The usual USB issue with Windows is a driver one. I've run into this hundreds of times now. But I can't comment much here since machine details are missing.

If it's like all the others, motherboard drivers usually fix this.

5G iPod with Video

In reply to: getting the ipod to work with firewire

According to the Tech Specs at the Apple site for the 5G ipod with video, it does not come with a Firewire interface. It is connected to the computer, PC or Mac, via the USB cable. Didn't your iPod come with the necessary USB connecting cable?

Sorry, no Firewire
