Question

getting sound from external speakers with Samsung smart tv

Jul 23, 2016 5:07PM PDT

I have a Samsung pn60f8500 that I watch Netflix , amazon , and acorn on. when these are selected I can only get sound through the tv speakers. when I watch directv , I can hear sound through my external speakers. I have only analog audio out on the tv as my optical is broken( bought tv as a floor model). currently I have directv receiver in hdmi 1 , then the audio from receiver is connected to my stereo receiver. do I need to connect analog audio from tv to directv receiver as well ?

Even a floor model would have a warranty.

I'd call it in, get it fixed by Samsung.

As to the others, you have to configure everything to stereo, PCM and then it might work.

The TV does not have an analog audio out, only optical, which you say is broken. You can use the HDMI ARC port to send audio to the receiver. check manual. connect receiver to HDMI ARC port on TV, and direct TV to the receiver instead.
