Just to be clear: every wired device is currently connected to that third network. I want to get rid of the sonicwall and connect everything to the router to eliminate that third network.
Hi! Sorry in advance for this - my system was set up without me being taught how to do anything with it, so I'm trying as hard as I can to explain my situation in as great detail as possible.
I have a Verizon router. Most of my devices are connected wirelessly to that router.
However, I have a few desktops and printers that require a wired connection. This is fine, and I have the setup in my house to make this happen, and it actually currently works fine.
There are a few issues however. Instead of these wired connections being connected directly to the router, we have a Sonicwall device plugged into the router, which is then plugged into a Dell PowerConnect 2816, and from there Ethernet cables connect each device to the Internet.
Basically, every wired device is plugged into the Dell PowerConnect, which is plugged into the Sonicwall, which is plugged into the Verizon router.
This shouldn't be an issue, however for the longest time this Sonicwall thing has really screwed my system up, and I can't figure out how to fix it.
Everything plugged into the Sonicwall is on it's own network. This means when I am searching for wireless networks, I have three options: the 2.4 GHz network from the Verizon router, the 5.0 GHz network from the Verizon router, and the third network which I know is coming from the Sonicwall.
This third network created by the Sonicwall is my issue. I want everything to be connected to the Verizon network, and get rid of the Sonicwall network.
I have tried unplugging the Sonicwall device, and just taking the Ethernet cable out of it and plugging it directly into the Dell PowerConnect, and the green light comes on both ends, but none of the devices on the Dell PowerConnect connect to the Internet when this happens.
What I want to know is how can I eliminate the Sonicwall and still keep all those wired devices connected to my main Verizon network.
I know you might suggest just switching everything to the Sonicwall, but it's really slow and outdated, which is why I want everything off of it.
Thanks, and sorry if this is confusing.
