Question

Getting reset discs (Dell Optiplex GX280)

Nov 11, 2012 4:32AM PST

A simple question deserving a simple answer. Do I have to purchase/request/order one, or can I burn a disc. I am doing this because I have lost my password.

For a password it's a 5 minute or less task here.

I boot my NTPASSWD CD and in less than 5, the password is reset. Why would I need the reset discs for a minor issue like this?

Yes, they would have the be purchased/requested/ordered, but as mentioned, it's unlikely Dell is going to have these anymore, though it probably can't hurt to ask. Given there's a pretty thriving second hand market for these units, there's also a good chance you could find copies floating around on eBay and the like.

Hello,if you want to reset yor password from safe mode, you don't need to buy a reset disk. Else you can try to use USB flash drive instead of the disc, I know Ainorsoft Windows Password Recovery[ windowspasswordrecovery . net ]is a good tool to reset dell password with USB. Else you can try to buy the disc.
