The proper way to Uninstall IE9 from either Vista or Windows 7.
It seems your IE9 Beta is still installed. The above is how I would have uninstalled it to get IE8 back.

This is not a question, but rather maybe something that can help others who have problems with Internet Explorer 9 Beta.
I downloaded IE 9 about a week ago, and lots of stuff happened. I tried to uninstall it many different ways with advice from many different sources. None of them worked.
Then, totally by accident, I was looking at my "Program Files" directory and saw the Internet Explorer folder. When I opened that folder I saw that Internet Explorer (iexplore) was dated 14 November 2010. That was BEFORE I downloaded IE 9.
I clicked on the exe file and Ta Da, I was back to IE 8!
I opened and closed it several times just to be sure. It works!
So: Go to Program Files, Internet Explorer, and click on "iexplore.exe." Maybe it'll work for you, too.
Running Win 7 Pro. HP Pavilion, 6GB RAM.
Good luck!
