Question

Getting out a Virus/Malware

Jul 1, 2017 10:24AM PDT

My windows 8 Lenovo laptop keeps restarting each time I power it up ever since it was attacked by a virus/malware. I've not been able to use it since then, please how do I get rid of the virus?

I can't even get access to the safe mode because my machine doesn't stay on long enough for me to do that before it reboots

Removing the virus may not undo the damage to the OS. Are you sure none of the Windows Safe Modes work?

To me that sounds like a hardware issue.

As a test I unplug the HDD and see if the machine stays on. Since the virus/malware can't load, this is my usual test.

If the device is a laptop I pull out my bootable USB sticks and boot that as a hardware test.

The more you write the more I think it's hardware.

What makes you think you got hit by malware?
Can you get into the bios?
Can you boot to safe mode?

If you can't get into the bios then I suggest you take this machine to the shop and get an estimate on fixing it.

Don't be surprised if the repair cost is more than a new machine.
