Getting online ... The bottom line

Dec 4, 2004 5:24AM PST

I'd like to have high speed internet on my handheld, but don't know if it's for me.

Will I have to upgrade my dial up account or can I piggyback on, say, a library's account?

I am in a large metropolitan area. What are my chances of getting a WiFi signal fo free? For pay? Cost?

Can I use bluetooth or a line to get dial up?

What's the cost/benefit for a small business guy in the field?

A close friend of mine got a Wifi detector and a Wifi card for his birthday. He's been pleasantly supprised at the number of free wifi access points in libraries and other public places.

NO ONE will give you a map of this.

In short, you'll like a PDA with Wifi and here's hoping Santa will deliver my Dell X50 wifi either this Christmas or even the next month.

Have you used public access methods yet?

You didn't tell.

In short, no "account" may be needed. You just are "on the internet".
