Getting my new laptop tomorrow and...

by Xm4st3r / October 9, 2007 12:21 PM PDT

...of course im forced to use Vista. Let me get this straight, i have used it a few times already on my friend's laptop and let me get it clear and simple: I totally *hate* this OS from the very very depth of my soul. I almost didnt buy my Inspiron 1720 just because of this little detail.

Anyhoo.
Its coming in tomorrow and I'm wondering (and I think the answer is a straight "no"...but hey, i want to be sure): Can I use the Windows XP SP2 disk that came with my Desktop computer that I bought 3 years ago and install it on my laptop? or I need a special version of XP?

Also I've read around on how to burn a master CD if I want to format my computer, but nowhere on *how* to actually remove this partition from my PC once im done burning it (dont want to waste precious hard drive space...and I guess I'm fine when I have it burned anyways).

Third questions: is there special things I should know about this piece of **** OS that is unique on DELL laptops and whatnot. Suggestions and the likes.

Thanks for your time.

Hard to give a firm no.

Only some of those move to new hardware. But do yourself a favor and read our Vista forum with the some hundred posts about "How do I install XP on my Vista Laptop" so you are prepared. Most burst into flames about that floppy drive.

Also noted in the discussions I wrote about above.

Nothing special unless you are unaware of those drivers.

All of them.

Microsoft doesn't supply drivers for your machine on the CD. So you get to find them all. Be sure to read the discussions in our Vista forum since I won't duplicate that here.

Meet the drop-resistant Moto Z2 Force

The Moto Z2 Force is really thin, with a fast processor and great battery life. It can survive drops without shattering.
