how can i get more visitors to my site?

* Word of mouth is the best
* Handing out flyers, business cards or other promotional items
* Entering your website into search engines
* Link exchange
* Advertising on other websites, newspaper, etc

You do that, you're website will increase in traffic. Also, if it's like a blog about cooking for example, the more content focuses posts you have using a variety of different words (words people would search for), you will more successful aswell.

If the content of your site allows for it, consider adding a forum. I did this on my own website and within a month traffic doubled. It feeds on itself through word of mouth. And a forum builds content for you that search engines can use to find keywords.
