getting from Panasonic DV camcorder to PC

Jun 26, 2004 12:48PM PDT

HELP please! I have a panasonic PV_GS70 and am having a devil of a time getting video images to my pc. Unit came with DV studio software, but I couldn't get it to work (consistent error message was "camera not in still mode"). Tech support then told me that Pan. did not supply software to record moving images, only still images, which doesn't appear consistent with what their web page says. They told me to get a firewire connection and use the MS Windows movie maker product (I have windows XP). I then purchased a fire wire cable, only to realize it doesn't match the size of the Pan. hole - five pins on pan. vs 4 on the cable?
Can one really get this download to work? If so, if you could point me in the right direction I would be ever so grateful!!!

There are no less than 3 firewire connectors, so it appears you have the wrong cable type. This area will confound most, but do try to get the right cable.

Connecting camcorder to PC
Jan 9, 2005 4:29PM PST

I am having the same problem as the poster of this message. I just purchased the PV-GS70 and it came with a USB cable. I installed the USB driver from the supplied disc, but it came up with "support files not found" Access denied. --but the installation supposedly went through. When I try to use any of the editing softwear I have on the computer--Movie Maker, Pinnacle,--it comes back with a message about not finding the "web camera", as well its calling it a Panasonic Web cam in the digital devices area. I do not want to use it as a web cam . I want to use it as a DV camera and transfer my videos to the computer to edit.

Am I doing somerthing wrong?
