Getting errors on hard drive message. Malware?

Mar 10, 2011 1:34PM PST

I've tried running all my virus scans and they come back clean. Windows Defender, AVG, Spy Bot and Malwarebytes. Nothing.
I did a restore and now some icons are missing from main screen. But seems to only be kids stuff.
Does system restore remove it or is it still in there to rear iys head in the future? Thanks

Try as I might, I can't seem to locate the actual error message you're getting.

The messages I was getting in pop up window were as follows
Mar 11, 2011 8:24AM PST

Critical error. Damaged hard drive clusters detected. Personal data at risk
Critical error. Hard drive not found
Critical error. Ram does not have enough memmory
Some type of program(None I downloaded)telling me I need to scan my hard drive in order to fix.

I have 4g of ram. 250g hard drive. Dell with Vista home.

Anyway. I did a system restore to an earlier date. Lost all pictures and some folders. Even on 500g external back up hard drive. Thought that wasn't suppose to happen to them.

Completely bummed out. Years worth of vacations gone. Computer seems to be working fine now with out error message popping up.

Signing up for Carbonite when I get this figured out.
