Question

Getting ARC to work for SmartHUB

Hello everyone, first time poster but been in and out of this website a lot...

but I am having a problem getting ARC to work for some reason, let me start with the components I use.

Samsung UN60ES7500: http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-UN60ES7500-60-Inch-1080p-240Hz/dp/B0077Y50JS

Onkyo HTR591: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-mfDMzKSRJTm/p_580HTS5500/Onkyo-HT-S5500.html

Now, I went into my receiver and set it up for HDMI Control RIHD with ARC turned on.

So I go into my SmartHUB and try to watch netflix or pandora with the samsung Apps, my receiver kicks over to the TV/CD channel as I read that's what it does for ARC. So since it does this I can see that the signal is being sent from the TV to the receiver but I still don't get ANY sound... i've tried turning the TV volume up that didnt do anything, I don't know what the problem is.

P L E A S E H E L P im annoyed with this lol. TIA.

I forgot to mention I use a Motorola DVR (Verizon FIOS) and that is connected to the CBL/SAT input and works perfect, but when I goto smarthub the receiver kicks over to TV/CD for ARC, but no sound frown.gif

for ARC to work properly you need to run an optical cable from TV to AV receiver.

ARC?

I thought ARC was so you didn't have to use an optical cable?

Correct!

In reply to: ARC?

ARC is an HDMI function. But you have to pick the right connection. The HDMI ports on your TV should be labeled, 1, 2 and 3, and also have corresponding preferred auto settings also labeled. Your TV, according to the manual, is HDMI 2 for ARC.Check out page 21 for further info.
