Getting a Recovery Disc

About a year ago, I purchased a Dell Inspiron 6000 from an online vendor. No recovery disc or any other kind of disc came with it. What is the best way to contact Dell about getting a recovery disc? I assume I should have a recover disc. Is there a way to make my own recovery disc? This laptop has XP Home with SP2.

Sent an email to Dell support stating that a recovery Disc did not come with my laptop and that I needed one in case I had to reformat my hard drive. They emailed me back right away asking for both my old and curent address and phone number. I replied to the email with the info and just a couple of days later I received via USPS Special Delivery a Reinstallation CD. NOW THAT IS SERVICE. Didn't even have to speak to someone whose English I could not understand. This might even cause me to reconsider my rather negative views concerning Dell.

Remember, to keep in mind the restore/recovery disk(s) only put you back as the laptop was sold originally. So any data you really want to keep or save, be sure to back-up or store elsewhere for safe-keeping. If the day comes you really need to restore, at least those favorites of yours whatever they are safe, off the system until you return after a complete system restore.

Glad you were able to get your restore/recovery disk(s).
