I was afraid you were going to say gaming. I am not a gamer so I really dont know that much. I do know the hp has the better gpu so I would lean towards it. The last time I was looking for a laptop, I was looking at battery life and Iooked at several asus at the local best buy. Battery life between charges was not even close to hp. If that will be an issue, then again I would lean towards hp. One thing in asus favor is the intel i7 but when combined with an entry level gpu, it may not make much difference but someone who is a gamer will have to go from here. In the end, I would say get the HP.

I do know this, if you are a gamer, it would be better to use a desktop. gaming tends to stress laptops and will eventually cause heat issues shortening the laptops life.

My last HP was my last HP. For that alone, ASUS.

The HP does have the better GPU for gaming but DDR3 for the Gaming GPU? That's not good enough for gamers.

I'd keep shopping.
