Getting a New Digital Camera...is Minolta DiMAGE Z2 good?

Hi! I love photography and want to upgrade from film to digital. I have been surfing around reading reviews and such of different models and have narrowed it down to the Minolta DiMAGE Z2. I am wanting a digital that allows me to use manual focus and have the abilty to do time-lapsed photos. I do want one that will produce high quality images as well. Is this a good camera? I know it is a little high in price but I can't seem to find another one meeting my criteria. Any opinions offered would be greatly appreciated as would any suggestions for different models.

Konica Minolta

Your reference to time-lapse photography caught my eye.

To my knowledge, the Konica Minolta Z2 does not have an automatic time-lapse feature.

Of course you can do time lapse photography by placing the camera on a tripod and manually take photos at intervals.

The Z2 takes excellent photos and is particularly good at close-up and macro photos.

I am curious why you chose the Z2 rather than the Z3 or Z5. The Z3/Z5 cameras have image stabilization and the Z2 does not.
