Geting rid of an installer

Is it ok to get rid of an installer program after you've used it? Like say I download a program, can I get rid of the installer after I've used it?

But what happens if you need to reinstall it?

I have almost every program I've used saved. You never know when your system will crash and you have to start over.

True, but I need some space on my hard drive.

In reply to: Thx.

I've run across the odd prog where the uninstaller for the prog is a separate piece of the installer and does not get installed with the prog.

What that means is if you whack the installer the uninstaller goes away.

You find this out some time in the future when you go to uninstall the prog and the uninstaller is missing....cute!
