General Processor Questions

Aug 21, 2004 8:55AM PDT

Hey. I just have couple questions.

I've been trying to learn a lot about processors in a short amount of time.

1) How can a 2.6GHz AMD processor have equal (or higher) benchmark scores than a 3.6Ghz Intel processor?

2) Can somebody explain and define all the attributes of a processor - including what each number means. For example, what is a FSB (front-side bus), what does it do for me in a practical use, what number is a good amount to have.

Thanks to all those who help me out!!
