Question

GE-Power Pro X500 16MP a good all-around?

Jun 11, 2012 12:33AM PDT

Looking for an all around camera with emphasis on interior shots {at first}. I will be taking MANY pictures of products to sell on ebay & the like at first, then using the camera on vacations & normal home shots. I doubt I use "video mode" much.
Looking at a plethora of reviews I found that there is a learning curve to the camera but with excellent results even on low light & interior picts. Interesting info like utilizing Class 10 HDSC cards sped up the time-lags between shots, buy the SMALL Zeikos Camera Bag & use Duracell NiMh batteries.
What is your opinion on this camera & if you don't like this one, what do you suggest?
All comments are VERY much appreciated.

Probably good for the money

Considering it is not much more than $100, it appears to be a good value. To get good photos indoors though, you will need more than the camera. If the products you will be selling are small, you should get or make a light box/tent, some lights (you can use desk lamps), and a tripod. If they are not small, you should use the flash, or a tripod and a longer exposure. This is the easiest to do-it-yourself" light box:

Cheaper but still easy to make:

While you can't go wrong with a class 10 SD card, it won't make the camera any faster than a class 6 or even a class 4 card...you can get away with class 4 because the camera does not shoot HD video). The camera is (reportedly) slow because of its autofocus system, shutter lag, and flash recharging. A faster card has no effect on those things.

Thank you for the great DIY lightbox links & your professional input!
If you have another camera you would recommend I am all "eyes"; otherwise I will probably pick the GE up & let you know how it works for me.
I've been a cnet fan & promoter for years & this is just another reason why.
