Right...

And I have never said that I supported Islam or any religion at all. I have just supported people or countries, independently of the religion.

BTW, does Judaism support gays? And the Catholics? What's the Pope's stand on the issue?

Hi, Charlie.

The Catholic Church's current position is schizophrenic, based on the notion "love the sinner, hate the sin." Frankly, the Catholic Church's position on most matters related to sexuality is ridiculous, as they teach that the only justification for sexuality is procreation, so use of birth control (other than "natural" family planning, in which couples are told voluntarily to abstain from relations during fertile period -- how is that "natural," except to a celibate priesthood?) is considered sinful. They also strongly oppose not only gay marriage, but gay civil unions.

From a human perspective
Dec 11, 2003 4:46AM PST

This is a good thing. Persecution of homosexuals is very common in some countries.
And this:
"The judgment here - that the onus is not on the applicant to hide from the persecutors - would flow on to women who refuse dress codes in countries where there were legal and religious requirements to dress in certain ways in public," she said.
It might also assist women who had been persecuted as victims of sexual assault to bring refugee claims in future.

I certainly support giving women protection from unbearable laws which force them to dress in such a horrible way. The religion in a particular country may enforce women to dress in an unacceptable manner, but I would be pleased from a humane perspective to give them an escape route.
