Gateway plasma tv 42 inch - Black vertical line problem

Nov 23, 2005 11:29PM PST

I have the gateway 42 inch, bought december 2003, now I have a two inch solid black line down the screen. The tv is not used heavily and is well cared for.

The service dept. at Gateway want $50 to look, $400 to come out and an additional $1000 in parts (they will credit any parts not used...ha ha). So $1500 to fix (no guarantee either) a two year old tv.

Anyone have any ideas what it is or what to do?????

Before I bought my 65" Sony hi-def t.v.. I looked in the phone book for service centers in my area, I found 3 Sony service centers here in San Jose ca. That is why I bought this t.v. This set is 2 years old and Ive had problems twice. and the set was repaired at my house, Just dont buy on line or from cumpoutor co. like Dell anyway I hope things work out for you happy holidays to you cadillacstew@aol.com

I actually won the t.v. so the choice of manuf. wasn't mine. I'm not a gateway fan and less so now. Sony always seem to have people willing to repair them, I may well go that way for the next one.
