Gateway Ping Problem on Wireless Connection

Dec 15, 2009 11:26AM PST

Hey Samsung Rep -

I'm trying to connect my 55" 8000 LED to my wireless network with the Samsung Wireless Adapter, and after finding my network and entering all IP information, I'm getting an error on the Gateway Ping.

It looks like many many people have had this problem, but there seems to be no consensus answer on how to solve it. Can you please once and for all give us the steps on how to overcome this issue? I am using WAP2 security on my wireless router.

Thanks,
Jordan

The next time I setup a password I'll try that. But the Cnet Networking Forum advice is to keep the password simple with a to z and 0 to 9. It is not supposed to matter but given all the bugs I encounter in routers and more, we have to find advice that avoids these errors.

Gateway Ping Solution
Dec 19, 2010 10:24PM PST

I have recently purchased the BD-C6800 and had the same problem as many others regarding not being able to proceed past the Gateway Ping stage of the network set up, after many hours trying everything suggested on the net from turning off the firewall on my Belkin router to updating the firmware and entering all the required network settings manually, I finally decided to call Samsung customer services and amazingly it now works fine. Just try the following and see if it works for you.
* Turn on your Blu-ray player ensuring there is no disc in the machine.
* On the front display panel press and hold the stop button (it's the square icon) for approx 15 seconds.
* This should now bring up the initial settings screen on you TV the same as when you first installed your unit.
* Follow all the on screen instructions ensuring that you enter the correct password for your network access when the unit finds your router.
* Select automatic settings, it should now connect you to the internet.

I do hope this guide helps you to get over this very annoying problem. I think that my problem was that initially I did not enter the correct password for my router due to the remote control, I did not initially realise that I had to select numbers on the remote but just pressed the numbers on the remote, so instead of entering numbers into my password I entered letters.
