Gateway mx7515 memory problem

Jul 12, 2009 1:50AM PDT

This laptop has always bluescreened a lot. I finally ran memtest86 and found lots of errors in the lower 512M of memory (the "built in" memory). Anyone know if this memory can be replaced or does this mean a new motherboard?

Thank you, but...

Thanks. The memory that you can add in the door on the bottom is not bad. It's the first 512Mb and you can't get to that from the little door on the bottom. Any thoughts on how to replace the first 512Mb?...

Then you replace the mainboard.

I found where gateway showed, documented 2 sticks. If they fibbed and you didn't look (you didn't tell) then I'd ask you to look again.

If the base memory is bad, replace the mainboard.
