Gateway M460 Monitor

I have a Gateway M460 and the screen just went dim. I can barely see what is on it. It is plugged into the power jack. I took at the battery but nothing changed. I hooked a desktop monitor up to it and I could see the screen perfectly. Never seen this before....
Anyone have any idea what might be going on?
I thought about upgrading the BIOS driver and the Video driver but not sure if that would be the right move.
